Notes

Another source identifies his first wife as Margaret, widow of Zebediah Williams. His children Henry, Mehitable, Mary and Mercy were burned to death in the cellar of his house at the surprise of the town by French and Indians on 29 Feb 1704. His wife was carried off, but killed on the road to Canada. John, Ebenezer and Abigail were carried off as well. John failed to escape in his first attempt, but got free in the second from Montreal in 1705. Abigail was never heard of after. [5]
