  • Notes
    • Joseph was a student with Rev. Williams at Deerfield, MA, when that place was burned by Indians. He was three years a captive of the French government in Canada, captured Feb. 29, 1704, and on his return settled on his grandfather Tilton's estate in Hadley. He was a deacon of the church in Hadley for many years, a staunch friend of Elder Edwards and endorsed his views. He served as selectman in 1727, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 43 and 1747.
