- He lived in Wolcott, VT. Martin served in Co. A 4th Vermont Volunteers during the Civil War from 03-Sep-1861and on 02-Feb-1864 received a medical discharge. He served in the Medical Corp and was commended for his efficiency in the line of duty. In Topsham he operated a grist mill, later farmed. In 1905 he moved to the village where he became the Postmaster until his death. He was a kind and religious man and in the absence of the regular Pastor, he would preach in the local church.
