Noah went to Commerce, Illinois and became one of the founders of Nauvoo. He endured many hardships at the hands of mobs because he was a Mormon. He was beaten and thrown into jail. In 1837 he devoted all his time to the Church. On October 9, 1843, he was sent on a mission to Tahiti, Society Islands. He landed there April 25, 1844, and labored with the natives until July 1845. He became very discouraged, had to labor against Catholic priests and had had no word from his family. He reached Nauvoo on December 19, 1945. He was the first Mormon Elder to circumnavigate the glove. On January 29, 1846, Noah and Eda left for Mt. Pisgah where he got pneumonia and died, leaving Eda with a family of nine, eldest Russell married and the youngest one eight years old. Theodore was the responsible one of the family and it fell his lot to get the family to Utah.
